Present perfect continuous

The present perfect continuous, which is also known as the present perfect progressive, is a tense wthat shows an action or event startend in the past and has continued to the present, now. It emphasizes (benadrukt) the duration (tijdsduur).

Positive sentence:

He/She/it + has been + full verb + ing

I/You/We/You/They + have been + full verb + ing

  • I have been studying here since 2018.
  • They have been playing the drums.
  • She has been moving since Saturday.

Negative sentence:

He/she/It + has not been (hasn’t been) + full verb + ing

I/You/We/You/They + have not been (haven’t been) + full verb + ing

  • I haven’t been studying here since 2018.
  • They haven’t been playing the drums.
  • She hasn’t been moving since Saturday.
